This might sound familiar…

You have unwanted memories, nightmares, or unexpected physical responses
You isolate from friends and family to avoid triggers or social exhaustion.
Find it difficult to build trust or maintain intimacy
Have trouble concentrating, frequent brain fog
These can be signs that trauma is affecting you
what is Trauma?
Trauma isn’t always what you think it is
Not all trauma is obvious or extreme
types of trauma
Sometimes it looks like:
The end of a relationship, or a sudden loss of a close friendship
Feeling pressure to perform or not disappoint others
Being ridiculed or embarrassed and carrying that into adulthood
Repeated verbal degradation, microaggressions, or social rejection
Minor surgeries, difficult pregnancies, or long-term chronic pain
Moving to a new city or school, becoming an empty-nester and other life transitions
Living in a high-pressure environment, such as a toxic workplace or ongoing financial strain
Growing up in environments where your emotions weren’t fully supported
Whether it’s the social anxiety born from childhood ridiculed or the relentless drive of an overachiever who fears disappointment, these patterns served a purpose once.
Your mind adapted to protect you—
What you’re experiencing often comes from past experiences you may not even recognize as “trauma”. These turn into patterns that reflect how the nervous system adapts to stress, trauma, and emotional intensity over time.
—but those patterns can keep you feeling stuck
You’ve survived it. Now, let’s heal from it.
Therapy can help you understand the root causes – to finally feel confident, stable and in control.

No. Therapy addresses the symptoms rather treat a diagnosis. You may notice difficulty trusting, avoiding places, people or situations, sudden emotional flooding and anxiety, or people pleasing without meeting criteria for PTSD.
Trauma therapy starts by building a sense of safety and trust and understanding your experiences. By identifying patterns that may be connected to past events, depending on your needs, therapy may include coping skills, processing difficult memories, improving emotional regulation, and strengthening relationships with yourself and others.
No. Trauma therapy is not about reliving painful experiences. Treatment moves at a pace that feels manageable and focuses on creating safety and stability while helping you process experiences in a way that supports healing.
While EMDR can be highly effective for many people, but it is not the right fit for every situation. During the initial sessions, we’ll discuss your history, goals, and symptoms to determine whether EMDR or another approach would be most helpful.
Yes. I often see client’s who’ve experienced trauma also suffer from and anxiety and depressive symptoms. Trauma therapy can help address these underlying patterns.
Many people question whether their experiences “count” as trauma. You don’t need to determine that on your own before starting therapy. Together, we can explore how your experiences may be affecting your emotions, relationships, and daily life, and decide what kind of support would be most beneficial.
